The Top 10 Mindset Podcast Episodes from Body Buddies

What does it take to get motivated and build a strong mindset?

I think it comes down to hearing new ideas and perspectives that help you dislodge the apathy or lies you tell yourself. You see, your brain tries to protect you. It comes up with stories that you attach emotion to, and those stories and emotions frame the foundation for your behavior.

Here is an example: Let’s say you are struggling to follow through and eat your healthy meals each day, or avoid the desserts altogether. What could possibly be stopping you from following through when you say you want to do better? Though the possibilities of solutions here are endless, I have found with many of my clients that they have created a story in their mind that it is vain, or putting too much focus on themselves and the look of their body to eat healthily. The emotion rides on the tailcoats of these thoughts–perhaps it’s disdain for healthy foods, or a disillusioned selfishness, correlating to lack of being Christ-like (for Christians), that marinates in the subconscious.

If that’s going on deep, deep down, do you think there is an explanation for why you’re just not following through? There always is an explanation, but most people just aren’t willing to dig for it, find it, and eliminate it.

What’s a podcast?

It’s an audio recording that is hosted on the internet. You can access it via any internet browser here (bookmark it!), or you may listen on your smart phone. This is most of our Body Buddies’ favorite option as you are all on the go!

iPhone?

  1. Installed in your Factory Settings is the iTunes Podcasts App. It’s a purple icon with a speaker on it. Move it to the front screen of your phone, then click into it.
  2. Click on the Search feature (lower right-hand side).
  3. Type “Body Buddies” into the search bar. Remember to leave a space between Body and Buddies.
  4. Click on my photo when it comes up.
  5. Click the ‘Subscribe’ button in the top right-hand corner so you are notified when I release new episodes.
  6. After you have listened to one or more episodes, please leave a 5-star review if you feel I deserve it! Reviews help others find the right podcast for themselves while searching organically and makes my podcast more findable. Thank you in advance! Android?

Here are some of my best podcast listening practices:

  1. Sit down and listen while you can focus. Take notes while you listen as if you were in a lecture.
  2. If you cannot sit down and focus, commit to pausing the podcast episode and jotting down a few thoughts or take-aways that are hitting you.
  3. Write down 2-3 goals on a 3×5″ card (I’m a big fan of these!) so you can keep it visible in your home, gym bag, or car to keep you focused on your learning and overcoming complacency!
