The Top 12 Fast-Grab Foods for the Power Foods Lifestyle

Wouldn’t it be nice if I could teach you how to lose weight, improve digestion, and boost your metabolism without meal prepping?

You see, my life has been pretty hectic over the past few years. Not only have I moved to different cities almost every year for the past 6 years (hashtag #life + emoji palm-to-forehead), but I have kept my own lifestyle change going no matter what the circumstances.

Throughout 2016-2017, I dealt with some guilt and shame that I wasn’t able to practice what I “preached” about food prep and cooking 100% of the time.

But the reality is, if my life couldn’t handle it as much, neither could my clients’ and Body Buddies who do my online programs! I just had to figure out a way to meet the criteria of the PFL principles (PV anchors with F, C, or FC energy nutrients) to hit peak ranges for fat loss as well as keep my energy, brain function, and metabolism high.

I didn’t know it at the time, but my little secrets I figured out for me would become the very tips for success that so many of my Body Buds are now using for weight loss, better energy, and improved health conditions (less pain, inflammation, digestion problems, etc.) on a daily basis.

I would like to share with you the food products I have found work very well in a busy-busy-go-go-go lifestyle where you want to look great, feel great, and fuel yourself with great foods!

But first, the awful advice that I used to believe (clear back before I started Body Buddies in 2012 after “figuring this all out”). Maybe you used to believe these things too.

GOOGLE ‘fast weight loss pills’ and it will give you . . . nothing that actually works (trust me–I could break each of these supplements and hundreds more down to the chemical level for you to explain how it’s a small PIECE of the puzzle, but a HUGE waste of your money!). Just check out the prices on these NON-SOLUTIONS that may damage your metabolism and adrenal glands.

(And in case you’re new to my education party, you mess with your adrenal glands and guess what’s next? The thyroid. And what regulates metabolism and causes you to gain weight quickly if you’re not getting enough of this hormone? Yep. The Thyroid).

In case you’re new to my story, here’s the quick summary: I always wanted a lean body as a dancer and athlete, but I never could seem to obtain it.

I also liked FOOD.

My diet–> binge–> purge–> over-exercise cycle became obsessive and toxic, and took hold of my life for over 15 years.

It nearly destroyed me physically, mentally, and emotionally. But in 2012, a miracle occurred.

I decided to make my comeback after hearing a voice in the car as I was driving down the road. It said:

“You are the Master of Yourself.”

From March 17, 2012, I decided to create a new reality for myself. Ever day, every week, and every month of this journey has brought with it new insights, growth, and development. My knowledge and approach of today always trumps my knowledge and approach of days gone by.

But just so you can share a little bit in the looks of my journey (I wish I could show you the mental, emotional and spiritual development as well, but suffice it to say I haven’t been on anti-depresssants or anxiety medication since 2013; I had been on medication since 2008).

Alright, now to the FUN and food products I promised to share with you! Please keep in mind that I cater to many different demographics–from females and males, muscle-building to eating disorders, teenagers to IBS, and hypothyroidism to PCOS… I could go on and on. The application of my recommendations are NEVER a one-size-fits-all approach, so I absolutely must give you that directive. Alrighty, now that we have made that disclaimer as well as my typical check with your primary care physician before applying any of my advice. I am not a doctor nor a Registered Dietitian clause, let’s begin!

1. Cottage Cheese

Portion Size: 1 container — this is a Pf in the Power Foods Lifestyle.
I recommend not getting one of the fruit varieties as this will triple your sugar content from 3 grams (original) to 9 grams.
Throw 3-4 raw walnuts and some baby carrots in this for a solid PVF meal (cottage cheese has the LEAST lactose for those with sensitivities).

2. Oven Roasted Deli Turkey

Portion Size: 1/2 package (4 oz.) — this is a P in the Power Foods Lifestyle.
This will FEEL like a lot of meat, but it’s the portion size for peak ranges of ‘P’ in the PFL.
Throw this between green leaf lettuce with some Wholly Guacamole or almonds (See below) for a PVF meal.

3. Tuna Packet

I always pack a plastic spoon and eat it right out of the pouch! Sometimes I’ll Wholly Guacamole to the pouch itself, or pour the tuna on some spinach and make a salad.

I tend to eat these sticks with mini cucumbers for a full mid-afternoon snack. They are the BEST airplane/road trip/on-the-go food I have!

6. Almond Butter Bars

I highly recommend only eating 1/2 bar at one time and adding veggies, but post-workout, or if you’re not going to eat another small PFL meal within 2.5-3 hours, this could tide you over longer with its higher energy (calories/macros). Watch out for their other varieties and flavors that are much higher in sugar, carbs, and fats.

I love this on my celery or literally eaten from the package in between teaching dance classes or workouts. I also love Hazelnut or Vanilla Almond butter as a treat. Yes, Peanut Butter is less expensive, but it’s not as high quality of a nut as Almonds. Cashews are 1/2 way between the two.
